Have you ever looked at a tiny, magical world inside a glass dome and wondered, “How is that made?”
At Sxzuren, we believe that a terrarium is more than just a decoration; it is a tiny, self-contained ecosystem and a piece of art. Every single Glass Cloche Terrarium and Hanging Terrarium Ornament in our shop is crafted by hand, with immense patience and a lot of love.
Today, we are opening the doors to our workshop and taking you behind the scenes. Here is the story of how your miniature glass garden comes to life!
Step 1: Gathering the Magic (Sourcing Natural Materials)
Every beautiful terrarium starts with high-quality, natural ingredients. We carefully source our materials to ensure they are safe, long-lasting, and beautiful.
The Moss: We use preserved or real moss to create the lush, green base of the miniature landscape.
The Botanicals: From dried flowers to delicate twigs and pinecones, every natural element is hand-selected for its unique shape and color.
The Sparkle: Many of our designs feature natural quartz crystals and tiny figurines (like our beloved mushrooms and woodland animals) to add a touch of magic.
Because we use natural materials, no two pieces are ever exactly the same. Nature simply doesn't do mass production!
Step 2: Building the Miniature World (The Assembly)
Once the materials are ready, the real magic begins. Creating a micro-landscape requires a steady hand and specialized tools, like fine-tipped tweezers and small brushes.
The Foundation: We start by layering the base inside the glass. For our hanging ornaments, this means carefully packing the moss so it won't shift when hung.
The Landscape Design: Using tweezers, we place each dried flower, piece of moss, and tiny crystal one by one. This is the most time-consuming part of the process, but it’s also where the piece finds its personality.
The Magic Touch: Whether it's a tiny red mushroom, a delicate fairy, or a sparkling quartz point, we add the final decorative touches to complete the scene.
Step 3: The Final Touches & Quality Check
For our Glass Cloche Terrariums, we carefully wipe down the inside of the glass to ensure it is crystal clear before sealing it with the wooden base. For our Hanging Ornaments, we attach the durable hanging string and test the balance to ensure it hangs perfectly straight.
Before any piece leaves our table, it undergoes a strict quality check. We ensure every lid is secure, every flower is in place, and the glass is free of scratches or flaws.
Step 4: Securely Packaging Your World
Working with glass means we take extra special care during shipping. We gently wrap every terrarium in layers of protective bubble wrap and custom foam to ensure it arrives at your door exactly as it left our hands—safe and sound.
